This is a rare acoustical Cameo Comedy Novelty Song recording by Jack Haley. This record is so rare Dr. Demento himself doesn't even have a copy!
Real name is John Joseph "Jack" Haley (born:August 10, 1898 died: June 6, 1979) was an American stage, radio, and film actor best known for his portrayal of the Tin Man in The Wizard of Oz. Cause of death was a heart attack!
Oddly enough that he played the Tin Man needing a heart! Isn't that ironic!!
Jack Haley was just 24 years old in 1922 when he made this recording.
This song was also recorded by another famous voice artist Mel Blanc.
I have no idea why Jack made this recording unless he was hurting for money at the time. I know of nothing else he recorded! To be honestly truthful, I like Mel Blanc's recording much better. It is a nice piece of history. There is more information about Jack Haley here at this link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jack_Haley
I believe this recording to be in the public domain because it is before 1925.
I uploaded this recording on Wednesday,January 12,2011. Please let me know your thoughts on this rare recording. This record was copied at the speed of 78 RPM from my record player with a 78 RPM stylus. This record was recorded 89 years ago! Please feel free to download! I love to share my old records with people! Enjoy!
